(OFF)BALANCE: Art in the Age of Human Impact invites viewers to explore the tension between human desires and the environmental realities they shape. Curated from the University Museum of Contemporary Art’s (UMCA) permanent collection, this exhibition foregrounds works by artists such as Mark Bradford, Edward Burtynsky, Victor Mira, and Kiki Smith. Through diverse media; painting, lithography, photography, and installation, the exhibition examines humanity’s transformative and disruptive relationship with natural and built environments. By presenting works that reflect themes of transformation, disruption, and resilience, (OFF)BALANCE challenges viewers to reconsider humanity’s role in shaping the natural and built worlds.
